Introduction to Essays
I hope you will read these essays with an open mind. I realize that most people who are drawn to the spiritual and/or religious life are looking for something more meaningful in their lives. I know you don't take these things lightly and to protect your beliefs seems normal. I, too, was once more traditional in my views of what was and was not spiritual. For me, to stay open to what I found in my own life experience was true and real was far more important than holding on to what I thought was real. I had to let go of everything I believed in from moment to moment and just let the Wisdom that is in each of us show me what I might be missing. By doing so, something truly wonderful happened in my life and I hope to share that with you.
It may sound like I am putting down religion, and I am. I don't do that with any malice intended. There are millions of people out there defending religion and promoting it, but few who are trying to point to something beyond religion. I have seen what religion has done to the world and its people and I hope to change that in whatever small way I can. If you really go into what is said in these essays you will come to see that what I am saying is true. If you are not at all open minded then you might as well stop here and go somewhere else. The awakening that one can come to by being open and honest goes way beyond what religion has to offer. It is simple and real. Let us end the lie now and see what changes we can make in this world of insanity.
